Celebrating four decades of ground-breaking contemporary art, The Long Now is an expansive group show presenting new works by iconic artists closely associated with the Gallery’s dynamic history, alongside fresh voices from a new generation.Spanning two floors and nine major exhibition spaces, the exhibition features special commissions, installations, painting and sculpture, and culminates with Richard Wilson’s iconic 20:50. A landmark in Saatchi Gallery’s history, 20:50 has been shown at each of the Gallery’s past locations and now, for the first time, is presented on the top floor.Filling the space with recycled engine oil, it creates a mirrored environment that both disorients and captivates. In the context of today’s climate crisis, the work takes on renewed resonance, inviting reflection on the fragility of our surroundings, community, and environmental uncertainty.The Long Now takes its name from a concept of fostering long-term thinking and challenging throwaway culture. Newly created works appear alongside historic pieces that remain impactful and relevant, continuing Saatchi Gallery’s tradition of showing art of the present while giving artists the space to realise ambitious ideas.The exhibition opens with works exploring process and mark-making – a fundamental human gesture reimagined by Alice Anderson, Rannva Kunoy and Carolina Mazzolari. This spirit of experimentation runs through works by Tim Noble, André Butzer, Dan Colen, Jake Chapman and Polly Morgan, who push subject, style and scale.At the centre stands Jenny Saville’s monumental Passage (2004). Combining strength and beauty, it exemplifies her ambition to “be a painter of modern life, and modern bodies.” The work anchors the exhibition’s energy, inviting a powerful and intimate encounter with the human form.Painting, a constant in Saatchi Gallery’s programme, is further represented by Alex Katz, Michael Raedecker, Ansel Krut, Martine Poppe and Jo Dennis, alongside new and emerging voices who continue to expand the medium’s possibilities.Immersive installations shift the focus from viewing to participation. Allan Kaprow’s YARD, with its chaotic arrangement of tyres, encourages movement and play, while Conrad Shawcross’s suspended Golden Lotus (Inverted) transforms a vintage car into a kinetic sculpture, prompting reflection on transformation, agency and the role of the viewer.The exhibition raises questions of technology and the future, with Chino Moya, Mat Collishaw and Tom Hunter reflecting on surveillance, automation and AI – considering how the digital world permeates contemporary life.Themes of fragility and climate change weave throughout. Gavin Turk’s fractured Bardo suggests cultural decay and the precarious balance between permanence and collapse, while works by Olafur Eliasson, Chris Levine and Frankie Boyle use light to create moments of contemplation. Unit presents Don’t Look Back, an energetic, multi-layered exhibition that channels the raw creative drive of the 1990s and early 2000s – an era defined by bold, irreverent gestures – into today’s world.In a time marked by uncertainty and cultural pause, that same urgency feels vital now, with Don’t Look Back tapping into a renewed impulse to make, to gather and to act. Through painting, sculpture, performance and installation, the exhibition brings together a cross-generational group of artists whose work captures the restless momentum of collective creativity.Curated by Beth Greenacre and Sigrid Kirk, the exhibition re-examines the ‘90s &amp; Noughties through a contemporary lens – one that is more inclusive, diverse, and alive with possibility. Don’t Look Back celebrates the vitality, grit and humour found across different communities at that time, and how that spirit continues to evolve in its embrace of queer voices, powerful female identities and broader expressions of individuality that stretch far beyond the laddish narratives often attached to the period.The curators note, “With Don’t Look Back, we set out to create a defining cultural moment that reflects on the evolving legacies of the 1990s and 2000s while looking decisively forward. Staged like a multi‐gig event, it rips up the rulebook on what an exhibition can be, reimagining that era’s defiance through today’s expansive artistic expressions. It avoids nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake, instead foregrounding experimentation, humour, and the idea of a living legacy.”At the time, artists like Sarah Lucas, Tracey Emin, Richard Billingham and Gavin Turk pushed boundaries in visual art, confronting norms with playful irreverence and raw honesty. While this convergence of art and music was quickly courted by&nbsp; New Labour’s “Cool Britannia,” it also sowed seeds of defiance and DIY experimentation that artists continue to build on today. Don’t Look Back questions how these legacies endure, reimagined through more intersectional and inclusive lenses.The exhibition structure reflects the charged atmosphere of a live gig, with audiences moving through spaces that echo the momentum of a live performance, from grassroots creativity and the collective energy of shared space, to slower, more introspective works that speak to desire, fragility, and the deeply personal stakes of artistic production.

“Andy Warhol: My True Story”, curated by Jean Wainwright&nbsp;at&nbsp;Newlands House&nbsp;offers a&nbsp;fresh perspective&nbsp;on Andy Warhol in an intimate presentation of drawings, prints, photographs, recordings, films, and archival paraphernalia.From drawings such as&nbsp;Man with Hearts&nbsp;and a fictitious&nbsp;One Million Dollar Bill,&nbsp;screenprints including&nbsp;Mona Lisa (Four times),&nbsp;photographs by contemporaries like Bob Adelman’s&nbsp;Andy Warhol Empties his Boots after being Pushed into the Pool by Edie Sedgewick, and an intimate film of his mother, we glimpse a very human Warhol experimenting with ideas and subject matter. Warhol was an inveterate collector and observer, and his early drawings reveal both his fascination with the ordinary and the way he processed and communicated his subject matter in his own particular style, developing themes which recur and evolve in his later works.The exhibition intertwines artworks, photographs, objects and artefacts with reflective recordings of his entourage, those closest to him, and his family. What is revealed is an elusive and private man, hiding behind a public party-going persona, with his wig and dark glasses and provocative soundbites, creator of his Factories and iconic artworks and producer of the Velvet Underground. His prescience and lasting influence are also witnessed through artworks by contemporary artists such as Gavin Turk and Rob and Nick Carter, his “brand” exemplified through Warhol-themed objects and memorabilia. In this intimate and personal show, we experience Warhol in different ways as each room reveals a facet of him as well as those he inspired.The domestic spaces of Newlands House Gallery, a Grade II-listed 18th&nbsp;Century townhouse, seem fitting for an exhibition that offers unexpected narratives on one of the most influential artists of the 20th&nbsp;century.Jean Wainwright,&nbsp;an internationally recognised Warhol expert, is a London-based art historian, critic and curator. Her work most prominently features interviews with international artists, photographers, filmmakers, and curators. As a writer and academic, her interviews can be found in the numerous books, catalogues, monologues, and peer-reviewed journals, and she has appeared widely in the media, including national radio and television. A Professor of Contemporary Art and Photography at the University for the Creative Arts, Wainwright has a particular interest in authenticity in the artist interview and finding the artist’s “voice”.

<h2>Back to the Cave: The Full Spectrum</h2> 23 May – 31 August 2025 Curated by Rungwe Kingdon and Claude Koenig In collaboration with Gallery PangolinBACK TO THE CAVE: THE FULL SPECTRUM is an exhibition of modern and contemporary sculpture, curated by Rungwe Kingdon and Claude Koenig, that will take place in the ancient Clearwell Caves from 23 May–31 August 2025. The exhibition, focused on the theme of colour, will involve just under sixty British and international modern and contemporary artists, and include works by Geoffrey Clarke, Lynn Chadwick, Maggi Hambling,Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas, Polly Morgan, Conrad Shawcross, Gavin Turk, Monira Al Qadiri, Tavares Strachan, Liz West and Hannah Lim.Visitors to the exhibition will follow a planned route – 550 metres long and up to 30.5 metres below ground – where they will encounter a combination of known sculptures in a new underground setting, together with new and site-specific works.&nbsp;Orchestrated by Gallery Pangolin, together with the highly-skilled logistics team from Pangolin Editions, it is the ochre mined at Clearwell Caves, that has prompted the theme of the exhibition: to tell a story of colour. Rungwe Kingdon, the founder of Pangolin Editions and a maker, explains: “This exhibition is an exploration of sculpture in an environment which echoes that of the earliest art we know. Contemporary sculpture comes in a dizzying array of images and media and, so as to make some sense of the diversity and create a contemporary context, Claude [Koenig] and I have chosen colour as a unifying theme. It remains an important reason the caves still function, mining the ochre pigments for artists’ paints. ARTZUID 2025: Enlightenment 

Things are everywhere. We create them, collect them, cherish them, give them meaning, and just as easily discard them. Artists notice what we often overlook — hidden within all these objects around us: the stories, memories, societal developments, and even new artworks. In the collection exhibition The Life of Things, Voorlinden delves into the world of objects: what do they really reveal about us?With sculptures, still lifes, readymades, and installations, the artists in the collection exhibition The Life of Things reveal what the objects around us convey — about our relationships, systems, and the meanings we create through them. The exhibition opens with the impressive work Famished Road (2023) by Ibrahim Mahama. He has constructed a monumental 5-by-10-metre wall made up of around 2,000 shoemaker’s boxes. Created especially for Voorlinden, the work almost obstructs the passageway, embodying histories while exuding life and hope.‘When you really think about it, it is truly breathtaking how many things you surround yourself with. In The Life of Things, we delve into the world of things. What are they doing here? What histories do they harbour? And what do they say about us?’ – Suzanne Swarts, director VoorlindenCollection Voorlinden reflected From Ai Weiwei, Hans Op de Beeck, and Michael Craig-Martin to Sun Yitian, Gavin Turk, and Wouter Paijmans – the exhibition The Life of Things reflects the breadth of the Voorlinden collection. It showcases works by both internationally renowned artists and emerging talent from the Low Countries, alongside globetrotters such as He Xiangyu and Anouk Kruithof. The latter constructs a pixelated landscape at Voorlinden using 3,500 books from the former GDR. Each book has its own story, and together they reflect how digitalisation seems to be replacing the physical object.
