In June of 2012 Turk launched his trio of Editioned Door Prints at Galerie Simpson.

The images are (almost literally) stunning, the way the forms burn and leap from the page. There is radiance to the image that references Magritte’s painting ‘La Victoire’, rendered in neon. Printed on Somerset Satin fine art paper, using archival digital methods, silkscreen glazes were then used to enhance the vibrancy of the neon affect and saturate the depth of the surrounding darkness.

The door can be a surreal gateway; an invitation to go somewhere - the other side, the imagination and to the great art alchemists of the past - a salute to Duchamp whose '11 Rue Larrey' is a door that is never open or shut. Duchamp's door was built from wood and situated in his studio; Gavin's glows electric in midnight black space. It is this amazing, spectral (and spiritual) contrast that’s presented, Op art in an exquisite fine art form.
